Rest In Prince
I saw Prince in Sydney in 2012 and he was in superb form. A very
energetic show at almost three hours long, a man with still a lot to
offer, prolific to the end. Some of his recent albums are very good.
I still find it very hard to believe.
I'm a lifelong fan, particularly during the 80's but going back to
his early albums such as the funky Dirty Mind and Controversy.
A mammoth talent, one of the all time greatest.

Another great piece reflecting many truths about our society today!
ReplyDeleteRIP - so sad, so young really and such a great loss of an absolute legend

ReplyDeleteI have been picking up on a bit of sexism around domestic violence. Some women seem to think that males are the only causers of domestic violence. But there have been some horrific cases of females being the instigators. For example, only last week a woman tried to blame her murder of her baby son on a kidnapping.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem Anthony! Lots of fucked up people (and their prejudices) in our world. At this exact moment I'm watching a documentary about black American Indians. Talk about a double whammy.
ReplyDeleteI saw Prince live once. It was a great show, but I've never been compelled to buy any of his music. If not for "Little Red Corvette" I wouldn't be able to say that any of my favorite songs were his. However, I fully admit that he is an amazing musician, and one of the best guitar players ever.
It is hard to believe, and he was so damn young. Since his death, I've been learning what a phenomenally generous man he was and how much he contributed to the globe - music aside.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is wonderful - a powerful statement about the hypocrisy of "political correctness."
Love to you, friend.
